We’ve seen “smart vapes” designed to look like smart phones, we’ve seen vapes that look like purses.
Now vape products are built into iPhone cases.
One brand, Humo Case, offers flavors like Blue Razz Ice, Watermelon Ice, Triple Berry and Miami Mint. Each case offers 30,000 puffs at “5% nicotine strength” and retail for $24.99.
“As a clinician and pulmonology researcher, these products raise serious public health concerns, especially for adolescents,” said UW-CTRI Director Dr. Hasmeena Kathuria. “They combine two highly addictive behaviors for teens: screen use and nicotine. Vaping poses significant health risks to youth, and products like these only heighten the risk.”
The Humo Case products have not been authorized for sale by the FDA. A federal court recently upheld the Wisconsin state ban on the sale of any vaping devices not authorized through the FDA’s Premarket Tobacco Product Application (PMTA) process.
