Piper Re-elected Secretary/Treasurer of SRNT

UW-CTRI Associate Director of Research Dr. Megan Piper was voted Secretary/Treasurer of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT) for a second 3-year team, the society announced.

Piper will continue to serve as part of the SRNT Board of Directors, participating in monthly conference calls with Executive Director Bruce Wheeler and other board members. In her role, Piper has input on the SRNT budget, signs off on invoices, chairs the SRNT Finance Committee, and helps develop financial policy for the society.

The next annual meeting is March 8-12 in Florence, Italy, where Piper will present the SRNT budget and overall financial status of the society.

Piper is excited to continue as Secretary/Treasurer. “I enjoy it. The goal of SRNT is to advance tobacco science. It is fun to see the big picture ideas, where we could go and what we could do. My job is to think about those ideas from a financial perspective as well. I also really enjoy working with Bruce and the members of the SRNT Board and Finance Committee.”

One future goal is to establish a global certification program for tobacco researchers in low and middle-income countries.
