A new vaping device, marketed as the MaskKing Extre 100K, is raising public health concerns over its legality and use among youth.
“First of all, this product is not authorized for sale by the FDA in the United States,” said UW-CTRI Director Dr. Hasmeena Kathuria. “It’s illegal, yet readily available online.
“Second, these unauthorized products are available in youth‑appealing flavors and claim to be disposable, yet they offer extremely high puff counts and large pre-filled e-liquid capacity, allowing them to last for several weeks.
“Third, as a pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine physician, I’m extremely concerned about the health effects of these products.”
The device offers a “normal mode” as well as a “boost mode” to increase intensity of nicotine and flavoring. An electric screen displays the battery and liquid remaining.
Flavors include Miami Mint, OMG B Burst (“sweet mixed berry… with a candy-style edge”), Grape Slush and Banana Taffy Freeze.
