UW-CTRI colleagues will embody the Wisconsin Idea by presenting their research findings to people from around the world during the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco’s 2026 annual conference in Baltimore.

Here is a run-down of the honors and presentations:

Dr. Adrienne Johnson will begin her role as the new SRNT Treasurer.

Dr. Megan Piper will give the Clinical Plenary talk on tobacco dependence and treatment on Thursday, March 5 at 8:30 am.

Pre-Conference Workshops

  • Dr. Adrienne Johnson. Workshop co-chair. Tobacco Harm Reduction: Exploring Risks and Benefits of Noncombustible Tobacco/Nicotine Products for Smoking Cessation of Combustible Cigarettes. Wednesday, March 4, 9 am to noon.
  • Dr. Jesse Kaye and Dr. Andrea Weinberger, workshop co-chairs. Tobacco and Cannabis Co–Use Through a Health Equity Lens. At that workshop, Dr. Megan Piper will provide an overview of an American Thoracic Society Co–Use Research Statement, which describes the current state of research regarding common data elements and terminology, co–use patterns and prevalence, impact of co–use on tobacco cessation, and impact of co–use on lung health.  Presentation.
