Tips to quit dip or nicotine pouches
Quitting is challenging, but YOU can do it! Here’s how:
- Get rid of all oral nicotine products in the home, car and workplace.
- Research has demonstrated that coaching helps.
- Contact the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line at 800-QUIT-NOW (800-784-8669) for free, confidential help!
- The US Public Health Service does not recommend medication to help people quit dip or pouches. This is because of a lack of consistent research showing that medication is helpful for quitting oral nicotine use.
- Replace the tin or pouch of nicotine products with a container of pretzels, carrots or gum.
- When you feel a craving coming on, try doing something active – go for a walk or do something to keep your hands busy.
- Instead of reaching for dip, take a deep breath and think, “This will pass. I can outlast it.”
- Take a sip of water instead of reaching for nicotine.
