Chief among these initiatives is the 2009 Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act that calls for the provision of incentives to clinicians and hospitals that adopt and demonstrate meaningful use of EHR systems focused on quality performance measures, including documentation of smoking status. |
