BadgerCare Plus Members Can Get Gift Cards for Quitting Smoking
An innovative program has helped nearly 2,000 Wisconsin Medicaid members to quit smoking, but time is running out for Milwaukee County residents to join the program.
Adult BadgerCare Plus members in Milwaukee County can get free help to quit smoking and may be eligible to receive $80 in gift cards for participating in the program, known as Striving to Quit.
Those interested in participating can call the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line at 1-800-QUIT-NOW (800-784-8669) to sign up before recruitment ends April 14. The Quit Line is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
More than 820 Milwaukee County residents have already benefited from the program.
Striving to Quit enrollees participate in five phone calls over six months with a coach from the Quit Line. The program is a partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the Wisconsin Medicaid Program, and the University of Wisconsin Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention (UW-CTRI).
