Katherine Hudson

Katherine Hudson is a team member at Advocate Aurora Health in Milwaukee collaborating with UW-CTRI as a care manager for BREATHE 2 study patients. Aurora and UW Health are partnering on this UW-CTRI center grant funded by the National Cancer Institute.

Tobacco is an important topic to Hudson, as two of her grandparents passed away from illnesses caused by it. Now, she has an opportunity to help others avoid it.

For the first project of BREATHE 2, called “Cessation,” Hudson will be a key contact for Aurora patients interested in participating in the study and quitting smoking. They’ll help participants throughout their journey, easing the time burden of other healthcare staff at Aurora.

For BREATHE 2 Project 2, aka “Reach,” Hudson will offer guidance to participants and check in to see how they are doing.

Hudson recently graduated from UW La Crosse with a degree in public health and community health education. She completed an internship at NAMI Minnesota, working as part of the adult programming team.

“That included a little bit of tobacco cessation, suicide prevention, and general wellness,” Hudson said.
