Katelyn Huemmer is a health counselor working on both the Options and Breathe 2 research studies in Madison. She has experience working on tobacco control. Huemmer created a program for resident assistants at college dorms to present to students on vaping.

“I tried to make it informational and fun, something that would connect with college students,” Huemmer said. She also worked with the 7 C’s Coalition—part of the statewide tobacco prevention and control program—in the La Crosse area to create brochures and infographics on smokeless tobacco.

She’s finishing a master’s degree in public health and community health education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Previously, she worked on a CDC prevention program, meeting with a group of 20 pre-diabetic participants for a year to help them make positive lifestyle changes to avoid diabetes.
