UW-CTRI Staff Development

UW-CTRI is committed to staff diversity. To that end, it follows UW hiring policies and encourages individuals who are members of tobacco disparity communities to apply for positions at the Center.

During the three decades of the Center’s existence, UW-CTRI has employed and trained more than 300 students from virtually every background, including undergraduates, medical students, and postdoctoral fellows. Several have been international exchange students.

Many have gone on to become successful researchers and health care providers after their work and mentorship at UW-CTRI. Some have even helped their patients, friends, and own family members to quit smoking.

UW-CTRI supports staff members seeking to further their education and career. For example, UW-CTRI Researcher Deejay Zwaga was awarded a disparities supplement to UW-CTRI’s R35 National Cancer Institute Grant to support her research and goal of advancing her professional career in health care.
